DIY Lamp
The holidays are here. If you're thinking of Hanukah gifts, however, you've obviously missed the boat. But for those who celebrate Christmas, there's still time to come up with the perfect present. One idea might be this nice lamp that you can easily make yourself. After all, everyone needs a lamp, and its form is pretty much assured to appeal to most people on your gifting list.

Designed by Rob Edwards, with detailed step by step instructions on his blog, the lamp is a straightforward DIY project that involves buying scrap acrylic, a piece of birch veneer, and an LED strip light from IKEA, then attaching them all together. Getting the acrylic into the desired shape seems pretty simple—Edwards describes how he easily bent it with the help of a heat gun, and ironed on the veneer strip. Couldn't be easier, or cheaper, at less than $40 to create your own illuminated masterpiece for friends and family.

Or, if your idea of DIY involves reaching into your pocket and whipping out your credit card, you can also purchase an already assembled lamp from Edwards on his Etsy store for the lazy-paying price of $250.
