For those of us who won't be able to make it this year, the Solar Decathlon has a wonderful website, which has rather smartly piped each team's blog into one main channel. Click here to see how things are progressing for each university squad and keep track of the move to Washington. As for those who can get down to the Mall, this is likely to be the best green show in the city all year. In, or outside the Capitol.
Though I missed it in 2007, I did get to the US Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon in Washington DC in 2005, and wrote about it. It was a wonderful culmination of the latest in student-designed sustainable architecture, and incidentally the first time I really hung out with Dwell editor-in-chief Sam Grawe. I won't get to go to Solar Decathlon 2009, though those in and around DC might want to stop into the National Building Museum to see Virginia Tech's Lumenhaus, which is on display now before moving to the Mall for the competition's October 9th kickoff.
