Modern Redwood Pergola

When Los Angeles-based interior designer, writer, and founder of HommeMaker.com blog, Orlando Soria, set out to redesign his parents' 1977 home in Santa Rosa, California, he immediately set his sights on the dilapidated shade structure in the backyard. Working with a local contractor and architect on the designs, Soria choose large, 8"x8" redwood timbers to provide support for the structure. Redwood decking and railings were selected for their beauty, durability, and strength. The new deck and shade structure offer a comfortable place to relax just off the remodeled kitchen. A new outdoor living space created underneath the deck offers ambiance and warmth that only natural wood can provide.
