The north facing extension is double glazed with UV protection, which allows the extension to be fully wrapped in glass and immersed in the lush garden. Indoor plants help to dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior spaces.

Prince enjoys the house’s “Easter eggs,” as he calls them—the way the dusky pink grout used throughout matches the home’s rear facade screen.

The backyard, designed by local landscape architecture firm and frequent Fala collaborator Pomo, is a natural place to bask in the city’s mild climate. “We love being here. We’re very grateful for it,” Braddlee says. “We don’t take it for granted.”

Treat walls and the ground as a canvas. This graphic abstract was created with Techo-Bloc’s Travertina Raw slab in Ivory and Rock Garden Brown. The earthy tones complement the texture of the slab, which echoes that of natural travertine with the stain-resistant attributes of Techo-Bloc’s Klean-Bloc factory-sealed technology.

The illuminated diamond pattern (created by double-ended wall lights) is mirrored with alternating Techo-Bloc Industria Triangle pavers in Smooth and Granitex finishes. The resulting walkway—which is also illuminated with minimalist garden lights at its edge—is not only visually stunning, but also highly slip-resistant thanks to the granular texture of the Granitex pavers.

The backyard sports a sequence of raised flower and vegetable beds and two green roofs—one atop the workshop and other atop the back entrance.

Landscape architects Reed Hilderbrand helped fill out the completed prefab by planting sedge grass on one of the house’s two green roofs to reflect the texture of the surrounding meadow.

Burnette sought to maintain the property’s natural vegetation and rocky ground surface.

Pea gravel covers the walkways and outdoor dining area, eliminating the busy grout lines that pavers sometimes have.

California pepper trees, grasses, and sage are low-maintenance, low-water plants that also are low-allergen.
