Adobu's kitchens are equipped with stainless steel appliances. They can be upgraded to a Fisher and Paykel Suite for just under $8k. Concrete pendant lights come at an additional cost of $1.2k. While the default cabinetry is finished in black matte, it can be changed to white matte or wood veneer for $1k.

Dufner organized the studio by using furniture and rugs to divide it into zones for different functions. In the dining area, the floor is fumed oak—a technique that incorporates the use of ammonia to deepen the wood’s color and bring out the grain. A pair of Grass-Seated chairs by Nakashima Studio surround a Tulip table by Eero Saarinen for Knoll.

Each bungalow contains one bedroom and one bathroom, in 840 square feet of living space. The pocketing slider expands the feel of the compact dwelling. “As a team, we looked at, ‘How can we influence the project in a way that brings a benefit to people's living? How do we introduce more light into every project?’” recalls Bass.

An interior transom window over the bedroom door looks era appropriate and spreads light between rooms. A primary bathroom was added to the right.

A CB2 chair is placed with the built-in closets.

Hatchet restored the three-over-three window pattern, so the primary bedroom now looks into a magnolia tree in the backyard.

The kitchen cabinets are made from a pressed wood-fiber product. The countertop and backsplash are Caesarstone.
