Modern Wall Clocks
We’ve started a new year and entered a new era of strained economics, so now more than ever is the time to be on top of things—which got me thinking recently about modern wall clocks.

Vitra recently released a new edition of George Nelson’s 1948 Ball Clock in brass and black-stained beechwood. The reinterpretation of the timeless timepiece is eye-catching but the price tag of $395 is likely to cause reactions more akin to eye-popping (even though it’s only $60 more than what the standard palette Ball Clocks go for).

But even during difficult times, good design remains within reach: Alessi sells Achielle and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s Firenze wall clock for $67 and at the MoMA store you can find the Timesphere clock by Gideon Dagan for $50. Though these pieces are still an investment for many, they’ll keep you on time and never go out of style.

I have seen some good knock off Nelson clocks for around 50 bucks. Not made to the original, but good!!
Personally I prefer modern wall clocks over antique wall clocks. I also saw some good knock Nelson clocks on Amazon. I think I want to get one of these wall clocks for my living room to use as a focal point.
Great article, I do personally agree that Vitras modern wall clocks collections are far more superior than any other reproductions I've seen on the market. Other than the original Howard Miller modern wall clocks.
I sure hope sites like this continue. Having so many different perspective on so many things really does stimulate thought....GREAT JOB!
The Ball clock is eyecatching all right, and so is the price tag.
Great article!! I love the photo of the wall clock you have posted here. It is really modern beyond what I have seen. Stuart
