Gehry's Grand Performance
Like cloud formations, Frank Gehry's buildings of the past years makes one imagine forms: perhaps a ship's bow, a ray of light, a Hershey's Kiss, an armadillo eating a Hershey's Kiss. But something unlikely is happening to Gehry's Fisher Center in Annandale-on-Hudson the next two weekends. Dancers will use the exterior of this building as a stage in "Rapture", a site-specific dance performance choreographed by Noemie LaFrance.

The concept is this: humans dance on topography, and the performance breaks down that interaction between small, moving bodies and large-scale three-dimensional surface in a study of "repetition, evolution and accumulation," as Bard College representatives put it. (The Richard B. Fisher Center is Bard College's performing arts building.) This is done by use of a lateral rigging system designed for this event, allowing the dancers to circumnavigate the structure's vertical planes. New York City residents, there is roundtrip bus transportation from 14th St. and 3rd Avenue for all performances.
September 25-28 and October 2-5
