Dominey Pavilion and Carport
When Decatur, Georgia, residents Todd and Heather Dominey tasked architect architect William Carpenter of Lightroom Studio to create additional space for their growing family, they turned to the outdoors. Embracing the space surrounding an ailing white oak, they nursed the tree to health and breathed new life into their backyard.

If you hired an ISA Certified Arborist , he/she would have properly identified the tree in question as a willow oak and not an ailing white oak...and according to current international arboricultural practices, most trees this size and age present a potentially hazardous scenario , given the fact that you have just increased the trees' target zone to include a beautifully designed and crafted outdoor living space...it is , and will be a great conversation piece , however my BMW will never feel safe , lodged under that trees' canopy . Furthermore , consider the liability factor...are you willing to take the risk if that tree fails , while entertaining guests ? As for the architect , Mr. Carpenter pays tribute to the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright...and yet , even Wright with the completion of his own home , never allowed any tree to grow in a manner so as to jeopardize the structures that he so carefully created . I applaud the concept of outdoor living spaces , and yet as an ISA Certified Arborist , I would recommend that the homeowner give due diligence to hire an ASCA Consulting Arborist or an ISA Board Certified Arborist for a written evaluation of the trees' overall health and structural integrity . In the meantime , upgrade your homeowners insurance policy and keep a lawyer on retainer...Sincerely , ISA Certified Arborist
