Cardenio Petrucci on Kitchens of the Future
Cardenio Petrucci has seen the kitchen assume increasing prominence, to the point where it’s akin to a piece of fine furniture.
“A new Boffi system called the On/Off Monoblock holds everything, then closes with the push of a button into a kind of armoire,” says Petrucci, who sees clutter concealment gaining in stature, along with green solutions. “Boffi uses about 98 percent recycled materials, and a new Piero Lissoni design incorporates beautiful wooden planks from salvaged buildings.” While Boffi and others offer composting options—from under-the-sink to a countertop hole that connects to an airtight container—“this is still a very tough sell here. Clearly, people have some catching up to do!”

Wonderful design. I'll have my servants keep it organized. IOW it's design is clean but not functional for normal mortals.
Yes, but the picture shows a Bulthaup kitchen not a Boffi one!
I don't think it looks too cumbersome. I think it's very usable - a place for everything and everything in its place. Why is it harder to use this than to have to dig through unorganized shelves of stuff, the way we do now? I don't care who makes it - I want one!
I must have one of these. I agree with Digigirl - when everything has it's place, it so much easier to keep things neat and tidy (and trust me - I'm messy by nature). Thanks for thoughts, I need one of these in my new kitchen!
This reminds me of a modern-day Julia Child's pegboard kitchen! I love it!
