Bird Calls from Sweet Bella
The design world, like Tippi Hedren, pecked on all sides, has fallen prey to the birds. For the past few years the crafty set has flocked in droves to our winged, feathered friends. Nary a letter-pressed greeting card, organic linen napkin or tiny, twee tee has been spared the image of precious tail feathers or cutesified beaks. For those whose interest in avians extends to the actual creatures themselves, take heart. These French-made birdcalls from designed by Monsieur Morrel and sold online through Sweet Bella are for you.

I was on vacation in Rockland, Maine last week, and stopped into the nice little boutique 412 on Main St. where I came across them. I was seduced by their sunny simplicity and handsome little balsa wood boxes and couldn't help but test them out. Though no red legged partridges revealed themselves, several women who had escaped the bustle of big city life for far more tranquil, seaside environs in which to buy expensive jeans did poke their heads around the corner to see what was causing the ruckus.
