An Attic Studio in Stockholm
In a 495-square-foot attic in the Söder neighborhood of Stockholm, interior designer Jimmy Schonning—a local celebrity for his role in the Swedish TV shows "Finally at Home" and "Styling Emergency"—has carved out a sweet and stylish home. His diminutive studio is chockablock with creative storage solutions (built-in closets; a washer and drier hidden under a workbench in the bathroom) and loads of personality. Where did you find that tub? Anything like that in North America?
This apartment is clearly an example of utilizing every inch of space to perform functionally without sacrificing style. The usage of storage is both clever and unassuming. The natural and artificial lighting was well planned and intentionally allows the the spaces to feel larger. The minimalistic approach with furniture and accessories supports the grander feel of the apartment making it warm and inviting nonetheless.
A definite utilization of space. I personally love the concrete stairs as well as the black bathtub made from recycled plastic. I am wondering if the numbers 6 & 7 have anything to do with the house number.
Looks like a Durat bath. Very nice. There are US sources on the Durat website.
There is no way that this place is just 495 squ.ft. (I live in a space that big, I know).
This studio is gorgeous. Sleek, sexy, functional....I love it. I wish I could afford to hire a designer to transform my 473 sq ft studio in Brooklyn, as well as this.
can anyone tell me where that backpack is from?
Gotta love the cedar
@V - If you live in NYC and your broker claimed your space was 495' sq. chances are unless you measured it yourself it's really only about 350'sq. After 13 years in this city I've learned that apartments are at least 30% smaller than the brokers say they are. I live in a 650' sq apartment and I can guarantee you that if I'd used a broker they would have told me I was living in 900' sq and charged me accordingly.
I've been looking for ideas for a small space we're planning on finishing. I like the way this space is utilized and the attention to detail. The colors will work well with our current scheme. Thanks for the pictures and the ideas.
I love the tile in the bathroom and kitchen.
I agree with the comment above... the tile in the bathroom and the kitchen is great. I also like the colors. They all work well together. Professional help with this sort of thing is vital. Sometimes what looks good in the show room does not translate well to the specific home. These colors all work. Great photographs, by the way.
