Join Designer Jillian Knox For an Open-Door Holiday Party

The designer, stylist and co-founder of Casa Ojo shows us how she makes her house a home for everybody.

"Our house has always been the place where people who don’t have anywhere to go know they can have a good meal, make new friends, and have a good time," says stylist and designer Jillian Knox. She shares her San Francisco apartment with her husband, Elvis Santoyo, with whom she established housewares brand Casa Ojo, which celebrates Oaxacan craftsmanship.

Their home embodies a maximalist exuberance, and many of their furnishings—like green wine glasses from Viand Vintae, napkin rings by Melina Kemph, and denim linens by Ubi Simpson of Mi Cocina—were created by people in their close-knit artist community or found at secondhand markets.

"Our holiday gatherings have always had an open-door policy," Knox says. "I even made a plate for my Uber driver once. The rule is always: Bring something to share."

Dwell Recommends

Studio Den Den Asterisk Trivet
Protect your table surface with an elegant trivet that playfully recalls the asterisk form. There's no material quite like wood that can offer tactile warmth and comfort at the table. A clear wax oil finish allows the beech and walnut wood grains to take center stage.

Block Shop Pyramid Charcoal Napkin
Our MVP napkin. This neutral beauty is inspired by the 80s Prince tennis gear graphics of our youth. We especially love the different stripe effects you can achieve by folding it different ways. Soft black printing on khaki-colored dye.
Sophie Lou Jacobsen Ripple Cup
A wavy borosilicate glass drinking cup, perfect for a glass of wine, spirits, cocktails, table water, or any other drink of your preference. Also cute as a little vase.
